I can remember when the old Transvaal number plates specifically excluded vowels.
So you couldn't have DOG999T, PIG911T or the ultimate blasphemy, GOD666T.
One of my memorial moments was standing on my balcony in Yeoville drinking coffee & watching a Rolls Royce come down the road & seeing that it's number plate started with BMW!
Someone in the registration dept had a sense of humor.
